Blending the art and science of breastfeeding
Hi, I’m Kate Willess, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Registered Nurse (BSN-RN) with more than 13 years of clinical experience supporting families through some of their most meaningful transitions.
I’ve helped thousands of families—in hospitals, outpatient clinics, NICUs, and community settings—find clarity, confidence, and connection in their feeding journey.
In my experience, parents need support that is calm, clearly articulated, compassionate, and rooted in trusting their own bodies and decisions.
I am a mother to 2 children, as well as a wife, sister, and daughter. I breastfed my children for around 24 months cumulatively. I was raised in Knoxville, TN and made my home in Alpharetta, GA. Professionally, I spent much of my nursing tenure at Northside Hospital-Atlanta. In my free time, I enjoy reading and writing, boating, hiking, and time spent with my family.
My role is simple:
Help you feed your baby, feel confident in your decisions, and find peace in your experience.
I would be honored to walk alongside you.
Help at Every Stage
Prenatal Preparation
Prepare your body for optimal lactation, practice hand expression, and learn breastfeeding techniques for your unique anatomy. It’s not a lecture, its preparation.
Postpartum Support
Celebrate victories and address any challenges during this sensitive period. Receive hands-on latch assistance, support your milk supply, and verify milk transfer.
Long Term Feeding
Support designed specifically for parents of babies 12 weeks and older. Address challenges like changing milk supply, returning to work, and integrating into a broader community.
My approach
Every family is unique, and every body responds differently. That’s why I provide care that is holistic, integrative, and tailored to your specific needs.
I prioritize the least invasive, most physiologically supportive interventions first. When simple, biological strategies—like skin-to-skin contact, instinctive feeding positions, breast crawl, or hand expression—can resolve or ease a challenge, we begin there. These approaches honor the way our bodies and babies are naturally designed to work together and help protect your emotional, physical, and hormonal well-being.
When needed, I incorporate modern tools, technology, and advanced techniques rooted in current research. And when something more involved is required to protect your or your baby’s health, I’ll explain your options clearly, refer out as needed, and guide you with calm, evidence-based recommendations.
These perspectives aren’t in conflict—they complement each other.
My goal is always the same:
to support your whole self—mind, body, and spirit—while helping you reach your feeding goals in the least disruptive, most sustainable way.
